What I have learned about Ramadhan
Ramadan begins with the appearance of the new moon ,and it ends at the appearance of the next new moon , which begins the month of Shawwal. The Islamic calendar is the lunar calendar, thus Ramadan rotates gradually throughout the season. Fasting(saum in Arabic) is one of the obligations that is found in almost all the religions which existed before Islam. Fasting is compulsory for all Muslims; men and women, rich or poor alike. (Girls are required to fast from the age of nine, boys from the age of fifteen.)This is not only an obligation; its virtues have been acknowledge by intellectual from all ages.
